Business Entity Number

Jack Holloway founded ABC Fine Wine & Spirits in 1936 in Orlando, Florida. A cigar store manager, he saw the end of Prohibition as bringing an opportunity to expand from cigars into spirits. His employer disagreed, however, and Jack Holloway went into business for himself.
The original store, Jack's Friendly Neighborhood Bar, was located in downtown Orlando at the corner of North Orange Avenue and Wall Street. Over the next decade, the company grew slowly, to about a half dozen stores.
In 1950 ABC Liquors was born; company legend has it that Jack Holloway wanted not only a name that local residents would easily remember, but one that would show up first in the phone book. By 1970, the company maintained not only a growing chain of retail stores, but an increasing number of attached “lounges” in styles from basic neighborhood watering hole, to (in later years) country and western dance bars and discotheques.

Company description
The company took another giant leap forward in the late 1980’s, expanding from central Florida into the northern part of the peninsula with its purchase of Jax Liquors. With almost 200 stores, stretching from Tallahassee to Naples and Boca Raton, ABC was clearly the country’s largest privately owned wine and spirits retailer. In 1993, ABC Liquors began using the name “ABC Fine Wine & Spirits” in some of its larger locations to highlight the expanded wine selection. Over the past decade, ABC Fine Wine & Spirits has focused on carefully managing its growth; selectively locating new stores, closing some older locations, and remodeling existing structures. Our stores now span the Florida peninsula, from Tallahassee and Jacksonville, to Naples and South Miami.
In a constantly changing market, ABC Fine Wine & Spirits focuses on continuously assessing how our stores and services meet our customers’ needs. We are committed to providing the best overall shopping experience possible. Remodeled stores exhibit clean lines and well lit, open, friendly shopping areas. We carry a wide selection of gourmet foods, including cheeses, chocolates, and snack items, ideal for gifts, parties, or personal enjoyment.
Same day delivery from many stores allows for the delivery of last minute gifts or wines, spirits, and beers for entertaining. Continual evaluation of the services we offer encourages us to be flexible, to be innovative, and to constantly keep our customers at the center of our operations.

The store in Athens GA on Broad Street recently sold liquor to a under aged person. When I confronted the manager about it, he admitted he does not check ID's of people using credit cards. This is AGAINST THE LAW!!! I have the credit card statement and am deciding how to proceed. MAD MAMA!! Makes me wonder if anyone's credit cards are safe.

My Mother and I have been shopping at the Crystal River store a really long time. I can go in and tell them what wine we want and they get it and take the case to the car ever time. All of the employees are good but there are 2 long time employees that we don't even have to tell them what we want.

For a company founded on cigars their staff is really not knowledgeable about them probably cause they aren't allowed to smoke em. I have three Stores in my area and only one that listens to me and takes care of there cigars. Humidors are often wet or dry and their "regional cigar guy" tells the managers 80% humidity is "OK". If you want good cigars check the gauges regularly and cigars carefully. Their Asylum 7x70 line is excellent but wet humidors hurt open case cigars w/o cellophane markedly. Some less popular open cigars are getting mold growth and asked why they didn't clean them and was told the "Cigar Guy" said they were better with the mold growing on the sticks. Seriously? Wow doesn't know the difference between Plume on Sticks and MOLD! Maybe he does but just calls it plume to cover up his failure to regulate the wet humidor... It was so bad i took pics of them to laugh at with the guys at the local cigar bar. The store people are awesome but the cigar guy is doing them and injustice and when the whole humidor has to be dumped well. crap... Get better Cigar Guys, maybe even let them smoke the product you sell. Educate them better. Otherwise you'll continue to decline despite the cheaper prices.

I was help by a gentleman by the name of Alex in the Viera store I just want to say he was very very pleasant.

$5.00 Coupon?

, more than 2 years ago

A very big disappointment. I used to receive coupons in the mail toward wine or liquor. That seems to be a thing of the past. I found a $5.00 coupon for the purchase of $25.00 or more in my newspaper. I wasted my gas as I never heard of Direct to You and the case of wine I wanted to buy was not part of it. Whatever happened to honesty? This must be a new gimmick. You lost me as a customer. Sincerely, Jane S. Gambale
