Any Logan county resident who has mental retardation or other diagnosed developmental disability may apply for case management services.In order to receive services, you must: Have a disability that developed before the age of 22 yrs. Have a disability that is likely to continue. If you are older than 6 years of age, you must have three areas of significant delay as determined through the Ohio Eligibility Determination Instrument. Support Services focuses on supporting, empowering and advocating for individuals with mental retardation/developmental disablities.
Eligibility determination, Individual Service Plan (ISP) development and quality assurance are program priorities. Case management (Service and Support Administration) is available to anyone determined eligible for county board services. The case manager assists with ISP development, service coordination, and crisis intervention.
Limited support may be available to families who care for their child in their home.

Families may receive assistance with expenses such as respite care, home modifications, adaptive equipment, and other services for the person with a disability, which are not covered by other sources. Supported living is a program that provides supports to individuals and assists them to live more independently in the community. Adult services: Each eligible individual participates in the development of a plan to develop/enhance important personal and vocational skills. For those who are unable to travel, home based services may be provided. Community based recreation programs focus on social and leisure skills. Seniors is a retirement program providing social interactions and community involvement for Senior Citizens with developmental disabilities. Services for children: The DD Early Intervention Program is for children age birth to 3 who show evidence of a developmental delay.
Emphasis is placed on working closely with the family, acting as a resource and consultant for the parents. An Early Intervention Specialist supports each child and family enrolled in the program. This is a professional position requiring a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related early childhood field and an additional 20 semester hours of training in child development, disablities, family dynamics and assessments. Logan County Board of DD focuses on life span services for individuals with developmental disabilities. We recognize that the needs of individuals vary depending on their age. We realize the needs for school age children are unique.
We are committed to providing services to school age children and their families to the best of our ability. Families Touched by Autism was created to provide a place of friendship and support for families dealing with autism. Teens in Transition or TNT, is a program that focuses on vocational exploration and independent living skills. Sibshops is a program for 6-13 year-old brothers and sisters of children who have special needs.
